The Evolution of Lexical Usage Profiles in Social Networks

Résumé

Humans are an intensely social species. As as a consequence, language use, acquisition and change are all embedded in social networks. The intuition that this fact is crucial for linguistics is certainly not a new one;. However, more explicit investigations of social networks and their impact on language are rather recent --- even though network analysis is a thriving area in economics and other social sciences. The poster aims to shed light on the effects of situating learning agents in different types of social networks.
