The Spectralization of Servants in Ann Radcliffe's _The Mysteries of Udolpho_
Résumé
This essay devoted to The Mysteries of Udolpho by Ann Radcliffe argues that servants in the novel are interchangeable with ghosts. The import of this analysis is to explain how the narrator, and by extension the scriptor, perhaps the author also, are to the servants what the reader of the book is to the masters in the book.
