Profil motivationnel et bien-être psychologique dans l’âge avancé .
Résumé
According to Self-Determination Theory (SDT; Deci & Ryan, 1985, 2002), this study examined the psychological well-being in later life with eudaimonic perspective. In particular, the relation between motivational profiles and older people’s psychological well-being was investigated. A cluster analysis revealed three motivational profiles among participants: (1) moderate levels of both autonomous, controlled motivation and amotivation (Moderate motivation profile), (2) high levels of autonomous and controlled motivation with low levels amotivation (High-High motivation profile), (3) high levels of autonomous motivation, low levels of controlled motivation and amotivation (High-Low motivation profile or Autonomous motivation group). Study results revealed that older people in autonomous motivation group and high levels of autonomous and controlled motivations group reported the highest degree of psychological well-being. In light of self-determination theory, results add a better comprehension of psychological well-being in later life.
