The managerial eye: remarks on the relevance of sociology in understanding the complexity of crisis situations

Résumé

The central tenet of this article is to question the dead angles of the crisis management literature from a sociological perspective. This is done through sketching a comparison between the managerial and sociological visions of crises as well as an expeditious presentation of how political sociology can be used in the understanding of the 1996 French BSE crisis management.
