Voir le végétal. Les photographies de nature de Jean-Luc Moulène
Résumé
Beyond the large photographic groups having contributed to the fame of Jean-Luc Moulène’s work, here the subject is to present several singular aspects of the very numerous images of plants that the artist has produced over several past decades and that have, for the most part, remained largely unknown or even unpublished. Developed though a lengthy observation of the vegetal species and their ecosystems, the images in question simultaneously refer to botanical sciences and to art history in order to better deconstruct existing models, and allow for the restitution of the imperceptible logic that crosses through the living – be it that of nature or of human actions. Based on the detailed analysis of the chosen works, the text thus invites looking upon Jean-Luc Moulène’s capture of the vegetal as a social practice in itself that engages the artist’s body as well the spectator’s.
