Structural health monitoring of processes related to composite manufacturing

Résumé

The chapter is focused on the monitoring of processes relevant for the composite reinforcement structures manufacturing, by weaving and stamping often used for thermoplastic composites, and on the monitoring of infusion process for thermoset composites. Three study cases follow with the presentation of corresponding fibrous sensors for each study case. For the Study Case 1, Interlock weaving process monitoring, novel fibrous sensors have been developed and presented. Weaving and braiding processes adapted to composite reinforcements production is also introduced. For the Study Case 2, Stamping process supervision, the sensors that have been used for the monitoring of thermoplastic composites introduced in previous chapter were used. Finally, for the Study Case 3, Infusion process supervision, novel sensors based on silver-coated polyamide conductive threads available on the market have been used and introduced in the corresponding chapter
