Ethical Issues of the Organization and Management of Research Information
Résumé
This communication provides an overview on ethical issues of the organization and management of research information, together with a summary of our survey results and an outline of our ongoing research work. Special awareness will be paid to ethical requirements related to data quality, data models and data format as essential criteria of the organization of knowledge on research. From an ethical point of view, a current research information system (CRIS) is not necessarily morally good in itself; how can a CRIS foster a kind of “CRIS morality”? How can such a knowledge organization system become an ethical infrastructure? As the advancement of open science becomes increasingly significant, research ethics, including integrity, openness, and transparency, gain even greater importance. Embracing these principles of open science will play a vital role in determining future research funding. Considering this, it is crucial to understand how CRIS address scientific misconduct and how they incorporate ethical performance of individuals and institutions into their data models.
